Invest in the future.

Minority children from low-income backgrounds are statistically less likely to enter STEM-related colleges and careers than their counterparts. Part of this imbalance is due to limited exposure to STEM in the earlier parts of their lives. At Junior STEM, we hope to cultivate the curiosity that is essential in becoming critical thinkers, and encourage students to create a positive impact on their communities in the future.

Welcome to Junior STEM

After thorough research on the educational development of adolescents, the organization of Junior STEM was created. Our founders were constantly involved in volunteerism, early in their college careers they would engage with minority students at local Atlanta public schools. When pursuing careers, they found that children ask themselves three different questions: Am I good at this activity? Is this activity fun? Do I see other individuals like myself doing this activity? After dissecting this thought process, and realizing they asked the same questions growing up, they developed an organization to provide educational opportunities to support and encourage underrepresented students entering into STEM fields.

Today, Junior STEM is supported by numerous volunteers to give the best experience possible to increase matriculation of minority populations into STEM. We strive in order to create an enjoyable, interactive experience in all aspects of STEM for students K-12 through demonstrations, after school-activities, science modules, and overall immersive learning.
